In 1899 Monet painted his own bridge, the one he had built over the pond he dug and planted at Giverny. There is no sky. Willows, water lilies and the underside of the bridge fill the canvas edge to edge, and the water gives most of it back as reflection. It is the first great picture of the garden he would spend the rest of his life on.
The print
Giclée fine-art print, 12-colour pigment inks on 200 gsm smooth matte FSC-certified paper, produced from the National Gallery of Art’s open-access master file. A white border frames the image. Unframed; frame not included.
Sizes
30 × 40 cm (12 × 16 in) and 50 × 70 cm (20 × 28 in). The image is scaled to the sheet with its proportions preserved.
